Brandon Mitts resides with his family in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Oklahoma State University in 1998. In 2007, Brandon earned his Masters of Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University.
While at ASU, Brandon studied primarily with artists Janice Pittsley, Anthony Pessler, Mark Newport, and Mark Pomilio. He taught an introductory drawing course for two years. Also at ASU, Mitts worked as a program coordinator for the Herberger Community School of the Arts in the areas of studio art and dance.
Brandon travelled to Italy in 1996 to study landscape painting. He lived on a working plantation in the Tuscan countryside during the week and on the weekends travelled to Florence, Sienna, and Rome to take in the great works of art found there.
In 1999, Mitts served as an apprentice at Universal Limited Art Editions in New York. Here he worked alongside master printmakers and world-famous painters that included Terry Winters, James Rosenquist, Kiki Smith, Elizabeth Murray, and Carroll Dunham.
Besides teaching at the collegiate level, Brandon taught 5th grade for three years (AZ), high school art for one year (TX), and served in various ministry roles including associate pastor, youth pastor, and lead pastor (AZ, OK).
The work of Brandon Mitts has been exhibited internationally, across the United States, and extensively in Arizona and Oklahoma.
